Yahoo! Stampede Cocktails

We are now in the last few days of Stampede! Wow, that went by quickly! This weekend will be the rodeo and chuckwagon finals! Sunday, July 167th will see who walks away with the money and the bragging rights for another year!

Since we’ve talked about Stampede and the food and midway, I thought I’d honour that unofficial Stampede event (drinking) and present some Stampede cocktails! Thanks Pete for the belt and boots!

8 Seconds to Glory (For the Bull Riders)

What you need:

  • 2 oz Jack Daniels
  • 1 sprig fresh mint
  • 1 sprig fresh basil
  • 4 blackberries
  • 3 dashes Scrappy’s Lavender Bitters
  • 1/4 tsp Salty Paloma Dynamite Rimmer
  • Pellegrino Limonata
  • Mint, blackberries (for garnish)

What you do:

  • In a boot-shaped glass, muddle mint, basil, blackberries and Salty Paloma Dynamite
  • Add Jack Daniels
  • Add Scrappy’s Lavender bitters
  • Stir
  • Fill boot with ice
  • Top with Limonata
  • Garnish with mint leave and blackberries

Spurs In (Bareback Riding – a version of the Manhattan)

I love this RCMP glass I found

What you need:

  • 2 oz Basil Hayden’s Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey
  • 3/4 oz Odd Society sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Brandied cherries (garnish)

What you do:

  • Mix the Basil Hayden’s Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey and Odd Society sweet vermouth in an RCMP rocks glass
  • Add the Angostura bitters
  • Add the ice ball
  • Stir to chill
  • Garnish with a brandied cherries

Sometimes the Calf Wins (A tribute to Calf Roping)

What you need:

  • 1 oz Jim Beam Black Extra-Aged Bourbon
  • 1 oz Peter Heering Cherry Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz Campari
  • 3 dashes Black Cloud Bitters Prairie Rose
  • 2 oz Pellegrino Limonata

What you do:

  • Mix the Jim Beam Bourbon, Peter Heering Cherry Liqueur, Campari and Black Cloud Bitters in rocks glass
  • Add the ice ball
  • Top with the Limonata

What you need:

  • 2 oz bourbon or rye
  • 1/2 oz Yellow Chartreuse
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • 3 dashes Black Cloud Bitters Prairie Rose Bitters
  • orange wheel (garnish)

What you do:

  • In a highball glass, add bourbon (or rye), Yellow Chartreuse, simple syrup and Black Cloud Bitters Prairie Rose Bitters
  • Stir
  • Add ice, preferably one large square cube
  • Stir
  • Garnish with an orange wheel
